NJPP president Gordon MacInnes appeared on NJTV News with Mike Schneider last night to discuss a recent report produced by a wealth-management firm being cited by policymakers as proof that high tax rates are creating an “exodus” of high-income households from New Jersey.
“There’s certainly no evidence” of any such exodus laid out in the report, MacInnes said. While the report does find that “there is a small outflow of high income households,” more importantly, the overall number of high-income households “is growing significantly.”
The also report ignores New York – another high-tax high-cost state – MacInnes noted, adding that about as many New Yorkers are moving to New Jersey as there are New Jerseyans moving to Florida.
