NJPP president Gordon MacInnes appeared on the March 9 edition of NJ Now to discuss the state of New Jersey’s economy and the spending plan recently proposed by the governor. MacInnes noted that the conversation about how to fix New Jersey’s economy – which has largely centered on tax cuts – has been the wrong conversation to have.
“There’s just no evidence at all that [tax cuts] would help us,” he said. “Instead, we need to pay attention to the assets that made us a wealthy, high-income state.” He added that the conversation New Jersey’s leaders need to be having is about how to invest in the building blocks of a strong economy, not about where or what to cut from the budget.
