Celebrate Family Leave’s Anniversary with a Video from The Amplification Project

On July 1, 2009, New Jersey’s Family Leave Insurance law went into effect, allowing most workers to take paid time off (up to six weeks) to care for a new child or a sick family member. Since then, tens of thousands of New Jersey families have benefitted from the policy; through May 31 of this year, a total of 84,456 leave claims have been approved and $208.9 million in benefits have been paid out.
We thought we’d celebrate the anniversary of this successful pro-family and pro-business policy by sharing a video made earlier this year by our partners at The Amplification Project, a new New Jersey-based nonprofit that uses data-driven digital media to push for policy reform goals. Enjoy:
